Take the Time to Get to Know a Child's Learning Profile

One of the most impactful techniques a teacher can implement early in her school year is to analyze the individual learning profiles of each child in her class. She can accomplish this by noting:

*how the child processes each of the seven sensory modalities

*the child’s temperamental profile

*the child’s preferred learning modality (i.e., auditory, visual or kinesthetic)

*the child’s developmental preferences

*

the areas of development that are challenging or avoided by the child

By analyzing these items, the teacher is able to differentiate instruction, thereby motivating the child to try activities that teach new developmental skills.
